More About Us

The UAW is also an active member of the Midstate Central Labor Council. Through the Labor Council, we are able to have an even bigger influence on issues that affect working people throughout the area. We support each other by inter-union solidarity and by tackling the issues of our day, like housing, health care, day care and a livable wage, from a working person's perspective.

What Changes Have Been Made

Contract: A contract is a document where we have written down and spelled out all our rights and working conditions. A contract is legally binding. Included in the contract (along with specifics about wages, promotions, layoff protection, vacation and sick leave, and health and safety language, among other things) are clauses like the grievance procedure, where we can insure that things which we have bargained for and have a right to are respected. A copy of the contract is available for all bargaining unit members -

Grievances: All Local 2300 contracts have effective grievance procedures that you can use if you run into a problem at work. If you think you've been treated unfairly, denied a promotion, harassed or discriminated against, or if any of your rights or working conditions (some of which are spelled out in our contract) are being violated, you should contact your steward, Zone Rep, or our union office immediately.
