Bear Facts Committee: Do you have any experience writing, taking pictures, or drawing cartoons? Or would you like to learn? This committee puts together and edits the union newspaper, The Bear Facts. If you like talking to people and finding out what the real story is, this is the place for you!

Civil Rights Committee: Assists members who have faced race, sex, age or other forms of discrimination. Major concerns include Fair Employment practices, Diversity, hiring, promotions, training, and equal treatment.

Women's Committee: This committee works to involve the woman members with social interest pro

grams and leadership training,and encourages them to become more active and closer to our union. The committee also works closely with the Civil Rights Committee to identify gender based discrimination, harrassment and job problems
.
Veteran's Committee: A committee that helps veterans learn and know their benefits and rights. It creates a liaison with the Veterans Administration and other Veterans Committees as well as advising union officers on contractual matters covering Veterans Rights and Benefits.


All these positions, offices and committees are open to any member to run for. You can informally join committees, while other positions have more formal election procedures. Our union is as strong and diverse as its members, and there's plenty of room to grow and start new projects. See your Steward or Zone Rep, or call the union office at 607-272-4108 if you would like to run or participate. And if you want to work on something not mentioned above, form a new committee, or get the union involved in a new area, please do!
